About us

The dining room seats 42 and has three parts: tables by the windows, tables by the fire and the main room. The terrace, with 16 seats, is open from May to September.

Our meat comes from a single supplier, our cheeses from farmhouse cheesemakers in West Cork, and our vegetables with the seasons. We bake bread every morning. If an ingredient doesn't arrive at the quality we want, we don't cook that dish that day.

Our wine list has 24 wines, eight of them by the glass. We can make gluten-free and vegetarian versions — just ask your server.

In the kitchen and on the floor we work two shifts. Every day there are five people in the kitchen and three on the floor, with one more server at weekends.

Sous chefRuns the evening shift and trains new chefs.
ChefsTwo per shift, hot and cold kitchen.

We're hiring

We're looking for a full-time waiter or waitress for the floor. Restaurant experience is an advantage, not a requirement. We train you in the first two weeks, and for your first month you work shifts alongside the restaurant manager.

In the kitchen we're looking for a part-time kitchen porter, four hours a day over lunch, Monday to Friday. Suits students too.

We give out the rota two weeks ahead. You get a free meal on every shift and two weekends off a month. Pay is agreed according to experience when we meet.

Get in touch through the contact form and tell us which job you're interested in. No CV needed — just a few lines about what you've done so far and when you can start. We reply within 24 hours.

If you'd rather talk than write, give us a call and ask for the restaurant manager.

14FAQ

Guests' common questions

Do I need to book a table?

At lunchtime on weekdays, usually not — we keep some tables free for walk-ins. For dinner from Thursday to Saturday, we recommend booking at least a day ahead.

You can book by phone on your number here during opening hours or through the form on this page.

How long do you hold a booked table?

Fifteen minutes after the agreed time, or twenty minutes for eight or more. If you know you'll be later, give us a call and we'll hold it.

Do you have gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan dishes?

Vegetarian and vegan dishes are marked on the menu, with at least one in every section. We make a vegetarian version of the set lunch every weekday.

We can make most other dishes gluten-free — just tell your server when you order. The soda bread, the boxty and the crumble can't be made gluten-free.

How do you deal with allergies?

Allergen numbers are listed with every dish on the dinner menu and the set lunch, and the full list is on the printed menu on your table. When you order, tell your server what the allergy is; the kitchen will adapt the dish or suggest another.

We use nuts, butter and flour in the kitchen every day, so with serious allergies we can't guarantee there are no traces. Please let us know when you book.

Until when is the kitchen open?

We take last orders 30 minutes before closing: Monday to Thursday until 21.30, Friday and Saturday until 22.30, and Sunday until 20.30.

The set lunch is served on weekdays from 11.00 to 14.30, and the dinner menu from 17.00.

Can I bring children?

Yes. We have two high chairs, children's portions of main courses at half price, and a baby-changing table in the toilets. If you need a high chair, add it to the note when you book.

Do you take cards and vouchers?

Cards and cash, yes, and our own gift vouchers. We don't take cheques.

We'll split the bill as many ways as you like and issue a company invoice on the spot.

Can I take food away?

The set lunch, yes. We fill your own container at no extra charge; ours costs €0.50. We don't pack dishes from the dinner menu to take away — most of them don't travel well.
