From taking up trousers to wedding dresses
Most of our jobs are small alterations that decide whether a piece hangs in the wardrobe or gets worn. We do them while you wait or within three days.
Wedding and occasion dresses
Altering a bought dress or making one from scratch. Three fittings are standard — for wedding dresses often four, depending on how your figure changes.

Prices for everyday alterations. Materials (zip, lining, thread) are charged separately and are usually a few euro. Prices drop when you bring several items at once.

Bridal
A dress that lasts all day
Dresses bought online almost never fit the way they look in the photo. There's no need to throw them out — they need altering, and that's a three-fitting job.
First fitting: shape
Six to eight weeks before the wedding. We decide what gets taken in and where. With a bought dress, it's usually the waist, the hips and the length.
8 weeks beforeSecond fitting: details
Three weeks before. We fine-tune the fit, sort out the straps and the neckline, and check you can sit and dance in the dress — not just stand for the photos.
3 weeks beforeThird fitting: final
A week before the wedding, with the shoes and underwear you'll be wearing. That's when the final length is set — and it can't be set without the shoes.
7 days beforeEmergency repairs
If something happens on the wedding day — a split seam, a torn strap. You get a number you can reach even on a Saturday.

When you can't find it in the shops
Made to measure is worth it when off-the-peg doesn't fit your figure — long or short arms, a different size top and bottom, an unusual height. Or when you want something that simply isn't made.
Twenty measurements
The first appointment takes an hour. We take your measurements, go through the cut and choose the fabric. We keep your measurements on file — for the next order we just check them.

We have sample books from four suppliers. If you bring your own, we'll advise whether it suits the cut — not every fabric holds its shape.

Three for a dress, four for a jacket. There's usually a week to ten days between fittings, so the whole job takes a month to six weeks.

If your figure changes, we'll alter your made-to-measure piece — that's exactly why we leave extra in the seams. We charge half the rate for altering our own work.

Four steps for an alteration
You bring the garment
No appointment needed during opening hours. Bring the shoes and underwear you'll wear with it — without them the length can't be set.
We try it on and pin it
Right on you. We tell you the price and the date on the spot, not when you collect.
We sew
Everyday alterations within three working days, express within 24 hours for an extra charge.
You try it on at collection
If something isn't right, we sort it out straight away at no extra cost. That's why we want you to put it on while you're still in the studio.
FAQ
What you ask us most often
Do I need an appointment?
For everyday alterations, no — come in any time during opening hours. For wedding dresses, made-to-measure and bigger jobs we book appointments — a fitting takes half an hour and we don't want you queuing behind someone who's come to get their trousers taken up.
I bought a dress online and it's too big. Can it be altered?
Usually, yes — but not endlessly. Taking it down one or two sizes is fine; with three, the whole cut changes and sometimes it's cheaper to make a new one. Bring it in and we'll tell you at a glance — free of charge.
How long does an alteration take?
Everyday items take three working days. In May and June, during wedding season, up to a week — so it's worth coming in early. We can almost always do express within 24 hours, with a fifty per cent surcharge.
Do you make clothes from a photo?
Yes, and it's common. From a photo we can read the cut, but not the material or how the fabric behaves in the picture. So we always choose the fabric together, and I'll tell you where the result will look different.
Do you repair leather too?
Yes, on a separate machine — an ordinary one damages leather, and needle holes don't close up. We can replace linings, shorten sleeves and repair seams. We don't dye or clean leather; for that we send it to the dry cleaner's.
What if I don't like the result?
We'll sort it out at no extra cost — that's why we want you to put the garment on while you're still in the studio. In twenty-seven years we've had a handful of cases that couldn't be fixed, and then we didn't charge anything.
